The Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act
This law has been in effect since July 1, 2009. It requires all home improvement contractors that work in Pennsylvania to be registered with the state Attorney General's office. Consumers can check to see if a specific contractor is registered by visiting the Attorney General's Home Improvement Contractor website.
While the law requires contractors to register with the Attorney General's office, this registration is not an endorsement of their honesty or quality of work. For this reason, we always recommend doing business with an HBA member. Members of the Home Builders Association of Berks County are established contractors/remodelers and are truly invested in their profession. Please visit our main page at www.hbaberks.org to view our online membership database or call our office and request a membership directory. Our new 2012 Membership Directories will be available in March!
